Lecavalier traded!

With the trade deadline looming and Vinny Lecavalier slated for unrestricted free agency after this season, the Spurs decided to move him tonight to the Victoria Ronin of GM Paul Canosa.
GM Canosa called tonight wondering about the availability of some of the unrestricted free agents on the Denver roster.
After some back and forth possibilities thrown around, GM Poelker decided to move Vinny to the Ronin for young wingers Max Pacioretty and Ludvig Rensfeldt.
"Hey, it's tough to see Vinny go, but with the current play of the other two primary UFAs, Gionta and Smyth, it appears to be the best move for the franchise. Now I'll be able to make a choice between one of the two for a UFA resign instead of picking one of three. We expect Pacioretty to step in and help us on the wing next season with Rensfeldt hitting the show sometime in the next several years" said GM Poelker.

Dasher Notes
Currently the Spurs find themselves in 5th place with 63 points in 52 gp. They are 5 points behind the Dayton Musicmen who blew past them like a comet in their meteoric rise the past few weeks. The Crusaders are 10 points up on 'em in first place with 73 points. Coming up fast are the Killers & the defending Champion Renegades 3 points back. The dogfight will continue the second half.
With the trade of Lecavalier, Andy McDonald has been moved to the 2nd line Center position for the time being. He'll take over centering Ryan Smyth & Brandon Yip.

Spurs at Midseason

Currently the Spurs find themselves in the rareified air of 4th place in the CCHL standings with 58 points in 45 games. The last two games have seen them score 20 goals!

Yes, another surprise as well, has been the individual performances of some players in addition to the overall team performance.
As of game 45 of the season, Center Paul Stastny is first in scoring and first in assists. He leads the league with 80 points, 6 ahead of Stamkos of Copenhagen and also leads the league in assists with 64, an amazing 22 ahead of Joe Thornton of Dayton.
Other team leaders see the surprising Gionta with 35 goals, currently tied for 3rd in the league, while his linemate Upshall has 30, currently tied for 6th in the league. As you probably have surmised, they are centered by Stastny.

Along the blueline, John-Michael Liles is tied for 2nd in the league in scoring among defensemen with 44 points. Free agent signee Tomas Kaberle is also tied for 2nd with 44 points. The dynamic duo since being paired together. Visnovsky has 12 goals, which ties him for 3rd in the the league among defensemen goal scoring.

Dasher Notes

Recent free agent signee Keith Aucoin has been a pleasant surprise to date. Plying his trade at the center position, he has scored 14 points in 10 games with a +/- of +9. He has 7 goals and 7 assists as well as one game winner.
All this while only averaging 10.2 minutes of ice time per game.
He has currently been elevated to the 3rd line centering Marc-Andre Bergeron and Brandon Yip.
Unfortunately, the signing of free agent Robbie Earl (below article) has been a bust to date.
